Did I miss the announcement that realistic human androids have landed?


This recently unveiled one is creepy enough, but this one from last year is even creepier.

The second one looks and sounds like it is more lifelike than at least one of my ex-es.

Aye - 'tis very creepy...

I've read enough Isaac Asimov to know that people ended up preferring the robots that looked less life-like because they could tell the difference easily and categorize them as "robots" unconsciously.

Personally, I think they will always have problems otherwise, since there is so much information registered by the subconscious when interacting with someone - most of that wouldn't exist in an android (unless it was incredibly advanced).

I think being around a too-life-like version might well bring up the overwhelming primeval instinct to smash it to bits in some people.
