Myth and/or Aleph One Night on Friday 9/14

Postby Miltiades » Fri Sep 14, 2007 12:43 am

Hi all,

I'm spending Sat in the city, but I'm free Friday night!

Anyone up for some myth or aleph one tomorrow night, starting around 8 PM PST?

For those of you unfamiliar with the name, Aleph one is the open-source extended version of Marathon - Bungie's FPS released just before Myth. The graphics are a bit outdated, but the gameplay is awesome. Better yet, its all available FREE from marathon.bungie.org. The latest Aleph One sports a nifty interface to Marius.net, making network games painless.

Hope to see everyone there!

Milt, I'd love to do some Aleph One with you sometime. I'll prolly have to update it; haven't done it in over a year or so. We might even be able to resurrect Procrast for some of that nostalgia.

Friday (tonight), though, I'll be at my folks spending the night and won't be able to make it.

I wish Bungie had their networking s**t together back when they wrote Marathon - Myth TFL and SB play great over a modem, but Marathon (including Aleph One) not really at all.

I think I still have the original CDs for all the Marathon games.

In! Milt does too apparently. :snipersmilie: :r2_98:

I love the GOTY Edition and have a couple of tweaks that make it insanely fun. Would be great to play multi and some of the better solo/coop games (I have several in a collection) - not sure if anyone ever played "Thief" (or whatever the final name was) - think it looked pretty darn fun but no idea.

I'll get my Aleph One updated here in the next week or so and will outline how to do it on the site (I have older download sites but not sure if they still work).

Agree with you on the modem thing, VR - last time I played with Milt and Proc it was like a slide show, but still fun somehow (despite the Rocket Enemas). Now I should be able to compete a little better.

I used to play Unreal Tournament for a while (the original, which I got a free disk of). I ended up mostly liking using the mod that gave everyone a laser blaster with slow rate of fire but instantly slaughtered anyone it hit.
