new Myth tournament

Postby vinylrake » Mon Feb 12, 2007 11:27 am

For OoHers who don't frequent the myth news sites, thought some might want to know that there's a new tournament in town, looks to be a longish one. A little simpler than most with games being decided by who wins instead of arcane scoring systems. Interesting that teams get to pick 2 'home' maps/game-types of their own choosing to add into the mix. More info below...

http://m2v.atomicgamer.com/proelium/html/rules.php

What kind of tournament is Proelium?

Proelium is a Myth2 vTFL team tournament that features both 2-team (1v1 style) games and games with four teams (2x2 allies). Although the official month for a Myth2 anniversary wouldn't be until November, we thought it would be a good prelude to the Myth World Cup and other possible events to come later this year.
How will this tournament be scored?

Regular season and playoff matches are a best-of-three and best-of-five series of games. The finals will be a best-of-seven games contest between the two finalists.
The standings for the regular season will be determined by an easy-to-understand points system. At the end of the regular season, the top four teams will advance to the playoffs.
Winning a game is winning a game, no special points system will be used except in certain games (like CTF).
How will this tournament be setup?

We are going to keep the initial limit for team registrations at 18. If we know of enough teams interested in playing, we will open up the limit to 20+. Regardless of how many teams are registered, they will be split up into two groups. A schedule will be posted for each team, and teams will be playing 2 matches a week during the regular season.

Unfortunately it requires 5-7 players per team. We [*my* team ] couldn't even coordinate our MWC matches.

I've got 3 players, one of whom I've never ever seen online for my team. So I'm out too.

There's enough guys interested to have a 5-team league table I rekon. But not enough people up for it.

I, uh, got on a team already...

Why not have an OoH team? I think it'll be fun! C'mon! Mmmmm, carpet bombing!

As it looks right now, I'll be with
toxyn
adrenaline
East Wind
King Adrock
Orlando the Axe
Raziel
Frumius

I hope the rest of us from OoH form up.

I feel sorry for you, Frum. Some of those guys...are jackasses.

Do you mean this one guy on that list on the end... "Frumius"? Yeah, sounds like a jerk to me. ;)

Sometimes I feel like an OøH toe that sticks into the water of the rest of Myth. All they ever see of us in pmnet games day in and day out is this toe sticking in.

I'm thinking I like "feeler" a little better as a metaphore than "toe."

I actually like the imagery of you being Frum-Toe. The mighty invisible crushing foot of OoH sends a toe emissary out to the myth world, and we call that toe - 'Frum'.

And the OoH Toe did crush any non-believers in its mighty wake, and it was good, and the people did rejoice.
