In the short term it's no big deal and IP works fine when everyone shows up at the same time, but it's one more detail that needs to be communicated ahead of time - and we have people coming and going over the course of several hours and from experience I can say it's much easier to just hang out in a room on playmyth waiting for a game to start rather than have to keep trying to connect to an IP games every minute or so. The other thing is that with IP games the community gets more and more insular - I've personally been enjoying the "new"("new" as in "newer than me") OoH members and guests we play with - most of whom we met on Playmyth.
Agreed about the civility bit.
