The Power of Ten Mapmaking Contest

History has taught us that, rather than being a hindrance, contests that require a specific themed limitation on their entries often benefit all sorts of creativity, inevitably resulting in a crop of excellent and fun submissions. The challenge of this contest will be to create a great map using a limited number of unit types, the maximum being, naturally, ten. Early registration ends on Thursday, February 8th, 2007. Late registration ends February 15th. Deadline for submitting entries is on Thursday, April 19th, 2007. As soon as you register you may begin on your entry. You may be in as many teams as you wish. Teams can be one or two people maximum.

For more information and registration go to the Power of Ten site hosted by The Onyx Warlords.

Wasn't it that Riblime Mapmaking Contest? I was actually in it as a contestant. I don't even know what went wrong for it. Well this time its a different group hosting it and judging it. It will be fine.

They had about 5 entrants who finished things and none of the maps seemed terribly accomplished, refined or near to actually being finished. It was a total shambles. Now with less players, and the map-making sector the hardest hit in this regard...its not gonna happen I think. Onyx themselves have only made on finished map so far and considering the epic task of TFV I rather hope they don't compete. Magma won't compete. The Nine has about 3 map-makers without any experience of finished works. There's about 2 others out there probably. And no guarantees they'll take part or finish.

They said man'd never fly, too.

And that the moon is made of cheese.

Which do you believe?

Onyx are the judges, but maybe the ones from Onyx that aren't going to be judging will compete... but it looks doubtful.

Well... technically speaking Man doesn't fly, we build machines that fly. If someone jumps off a skyscraper naked and lands safely, I would say Man can fly.

As for the moon, it is in fact made entirely of cheese. Didn't you see Wallace and Grommit??? :r2_238:

Okay, Magma, Onyx, and the Nine wont compete according to you. I can believe that, but are you saying those three groups and 2 other people are the only mapmakers around? I disagree wholeheartedly.
