Archieves

Hey Guys,

I was going through some old software and CD's and came across an old Myth II maps CD. I compared to our BP and most maps were the same. I found a few oldie but goodie maps. Im not sure if anyone has played any of them but here is the list (not in the BP):

A BORDERLAND ODDESSY
BARRENS
BEYOND DEATH
BIGHOUSE
ATTACK OF BRE'uNOR v1
CRYPTIC WIGHTINGS
HIGHER & DEEPER
IF I HAD A YETI
IF IT DOESNT MOVE
JUNGLES OF THE ERMINE
LEGGO II ARENAS
LOST ON ICE
MUD RIVER MARKET
OKVANGO
PAINTED LANDS
STRANGE BEDFELLOWS
THE DIRE MARSH
THE GREAT DIVIDE
THE ROCK
WW2: URBAN RECON

Im not sure how to get them to a website that anyone can DL, like UDOGS or something. I have them only on my HD right now.

What do you think??

Most of them (Cryptic Wightings, Leggo II, Attack of Bre'Unor, Urban Recon spring to mind) are pretty easy to find already.

A Borderland Odyssey and The Great Divide are already on the BP. Leggo II Arena is as well as one of my "Redux" maps (it has additional expanded meshes for RDF play). :)

Cryptic Wightings is the "Lost Bungie Map" used as a base for my Triskelion map. The original map is really unfinished in many places/ways.

Higher & Deeper is an old OoH favorite, but has been out of the BP for awhile because it occasionally blows up (like Eyrie). One of those "Malkavian Specials". I'd be willing to try it again.

The Rock has been on my list for awhile, but tends to be a bit claustrophobic. I'd give it a whirl.

Barrens is not a big fave in the House of H'Pak... ;)

A couple of the remainders I don't recall (Okvango?) - searching via the Myth Map Atlas or Mything Links Downloads section (especially in the bowels of the udogs hotline links) should reveal most of them.

Thanks for sharing the maps - I am always looking for old map info. according to the myth map atlas (http://maps.mything.org) all the maps are available at the udogs hotline site EXCEPT for "STRANGE BEDFELLOWS" which I had seen references too but have never actually seen "in person". I would LOVE to have a copy of it - if you could email me a zipped copy to "webmaster" at the previously mentioned "mything.org" I would be quite happy.

A BORDERLAND ODDESSY -- Was an MWC 06 map and was in BP..don't think I want to try it again unless it's in MWC 07

BARRENS -- Was in MWC.....04 ? Or 05 ? I wasn't a huge fan...

BEYOND DEATH -- If I'm right, this is a co-op on an island..never played it with others. WOuld be willing to try it.

BIGHOUSE -- Never tried this before now. The trades seem pretty...bad. It might be fun with tagsets. Note to others: It's like Stoneheart indoors, with furniture, etc..but more rooms.

ATTACK OF BRE'uNOR v1 -- Can't find this one. If it's the one I'm thinking of, then it's a rather simple/silly co-op I've beaten.

CRYPTIC WIGHTINGS -- Gothic ?

HIGHER & DEEPER -- Isn't this [or wasn't ] in the BP ?

IF I HAD A YETI -- Doesn't have much terrain variation/etc, but would try

IF IT DOESNT MOVE -- Looks cool, would try. Looks very dark and dreary, though..makes me sad.

JUNGLES OF THE ERMINE -- Played before..looks good. Definitely a no-go for RDF..I noticed it has about 90, 000 trees on it.

LEGGO II ARENAS -- What arenas ?

LOST ON ICE -- Looks good to me

MUD RIVER MARKET -- Looks good for RDF

OKVANGO -- vr might like this since the creator used satellite images to make the map, but...other than that, this map is just a big 100% flat, empty land.

PAINTED LANDS -- Remember this..not sure what could be played on it. Would give it a try.

STRANGE BEDFELLOWS -- Can't find this one..

THE DIRE MARSH -- If it is the same one, then it's just multi on the "Friends" solo map [FR with trow ]

THE GREAT DIVIDE -- Sorry, I hate this map.

THE ROCK -- Looked at this before as well...looks better suited for RDF or catapults than reg

WW2: URBAN RECON -- Not really an OoH map.

Agreed.

sillek Wrote:BEYOND DEATH -- If I'm right, this is a co-op on an island..never played it with others. WOuld be willing to try it.

I haven't played it myself, but from the author's readme it sounds like a ffa/team map not a coop.

"Beyond Death, to my knowledge, is the first functioning Ghost map. Also to my knowledge it is the first indoor map to employ water with in it's halls. It's a medium to large sized indoor map. It has many adjoining halls and large rooms for open conflicts. But those same halls can be you worst enemy. Doorways provide many great choke points for battle and other such tactics. Also, Projectiles pass through the ghosts, so one arrow and go through 3...4...5 separate targets..."

By Creation, I think it was one of the first 3rd party solo/coop maps. At least if I am remembering correctly it won one of the first solomapmaking competitions.

sillek Wrote:CRYPTIC WIGHTINGS -- Gothic ?
-- Yes.

sillek Wrote:LEGGO II ARENAS -- What arenas ?
The Leggo II plug/tagset was called "Leggo II Arena" because the map that came with it was an arena style map. Leggo I was the grassy basically flat map with leggo trees and houses and flowers and stuff.

I'll give it a look, but other than as a novelty _how_ the map was made doesn't translate much into whether I actually like a map or not. It's hard to imagine I will like a big 100% flat empty land map.

sillek Wrote:THE DIRE MARSH -- If it is the same one, then it's just multi on the "Friends" solo map [FR with trow ]

I don't know if "The Dire Marsh" and "Death in the Dire Marsh" are the same map or not, but "Death in the Dire Marsh" is a Myth SB conversion of a Myth TFL map - which is not based on the "With the Friends like these" map.

Ah, well..I don't much like Death in the Dire Marsh, anyway.

I must have the wrong Beyond Death...

Guess the bre'unor map was the one I was thinking of. Don't think it'd do well with more than 2-3 players.

Isn't Lego II arena in the BP ? Or was.. I remember a weird one with curving roads and another that was a warehouse like one with symmetrical ramps/etc

Well, Okvango isn't 100% flat..it has rolling hills..but they're only about as high as a dwarf.

Ah, ok..got the right Beyond Death. I remember this map since someone converted it to WWII. Honestly I'd rather not play it. It uses the same texture for the entire map, and no scenery aside from a couple barrels in a few rooms. It's like a dreary, depressing maze.

Yeah - it's the 'warehouse'ish one with the Leggo Mech robots.

Including the mesh with the scoobi-doo mystery van with a canon mounted on top. I love the sight of the blown-to-bits van...Ryah!

Come to think of it...isn't the hunting unit Jar-Jar? Very funky map.
