GK, I got on pmnet Monday and saw you hosting a Troball game. It was red, so I tried joining to see which plug it was. I went to toecutter's place on udogs HL to get it, but he had many similarly-named plugs and I didn't download one. I decided I'd host.

When I hosted, my game had your game's name! Wierd. I changed it. Then yesterday over at Imperium, Captain Carrot complained that my game was only open to 8 ppl and he couldn't get in. 8 ppl! I always have it open to 16. I didn't realize it was only open to 8, and I'm guessing you couldn't get in because of it. Sorry about that! :( I think my game took on all the parameters of your game due to my trying to join yours beforehand. I thought only my game's name had been changed to your game's name, but apparently it also set the player limit to 8 and the difficulty to Heroic (I always have Legendary!), the way you had it.

I think that's what happenated. I wondered why you weren't coming in. Even mad showed up! He always goes by SandyClaws at this time of year, mb you saw him in the lobby. No wonder no more than 8 ppl were ever in the game! Dang! It usually fills up pretty well.

Wait!

You did make it in eventually, didn't you? Yes, I remember VBL! Ok, nm about you not making it in. Early morning brain fuzz here. But the rest of the game weirdness did happen. Weird.

Remember Frum: I had that same effect happen when my hosted game name suddenly had the / in the o in the title, which I can't create on my PC except by hexediting it.

I'm going to report this as a bug, since it can really throw people off, and as you saw there it changed the max # players! DOH!! Not good...

Joining a game in progress has ALWAYS does this. It has also done it ever since they let you see what plug-ins a red game is using rather than joining and leaving. I told them about it when it was very first introduced and they were not interesting in removing it.

Heh never realized it has done that for so long.

Agree it seems they are totally disinterested in removing it. Pretty darn annoying to have someone elses settings "stick to you" when checking a game.

Sounds like the code is copying all host settings to go through the host's plugins, and then not reverting back to the original settings. Seems very straightforward. Oh well...

Will just have to make a backup copy of the prefs folder. :)

If memory serves well, yes. Though I don't play Myth much atm.
