Solo objectives

Postby vinylrake » Fri Jun 16, 2006 12:51 pm

Ok, so I;ve been thinking about solo myth levels lately and started categorizing them very broadly. Below are the basic objectives I can think of from solo levels, some levels have just one objective, a lot are a combo of objectives .

Here's the high level list, can anyone think of any other objectives from Myth solo levels? (any myth game, or 3rd party map is fair game)

Defend something (a creature or place)
Get from Point A to Point B
Find something (creature or item(usually magical))
Destroy/Fix something (often a magical artifact)
Puzzle solving (figure out how to do something to activate some magic)
    Stay Alive
Kill bad guy(s) (one or more)

notes:

I only count "Stay Alive" as a specific goal when the ONLY goal for the level is to stay alive for a certain amount of time (Through the Ermine). On all other levels it is an implicit goal since not staying alive ends the level.

Similarly, I only count "Kill the bad guys" as a specific goal when the ONLY goal for the level is to kill a specific number of bad guys (e.g. The Baron (level ends when Baron is killed), or the TFL level "Ambush at Devil's Overlook"(level ends when a certain number of souless have been killed)

I also didn't include "do something in x amount of time" as a goal since the "do something" part should be in the list above.

ex of combo missions:

The SB solo level "Salvation" combines "Find something" (villagers being held prisoner) with "Protect someone (villagers) from the bad guys (brigands and ghasts)".

The SB and TFL solo levels "Beyond the Cloudspine" and "Force 10 from Stoneheim" both combine the goals of "Find something" (the world knot) with "Destroy/Fix something" (the world knot).

'await reinforcements' I considered but that kinda branches over 'survive' and 'defend an area'.
