No wonder we haven't found any life on mars

Turns out that the method the mars lander/rover (s) use to search for traces of organic matter (heating it to high temperatures with a chemical used in rocket fuel and checking for oxygen given off by burning organic matter - oversimplification) completely obliterates organic matter leaving nothing to detect.

oops!

lol! Never ceases to amaze me how little we know sometimes!

Oh man... imagine how history would have changed if they *had* found evidence of life back in 1976? Wow.

I keep waiting for it to happen. Figure it will either be from Mars or someplace a little more exotic like Europa.

Will definitely tweak belief systems around the globe.

Personally I think it's something we desperately need tweaked. ;)

Doh #-o
Reminds me of the Hubble when it first made it into orbit, before they realized it needed a contact lense.
I hear ya Baak. It will happen (finding life out there slam dunk for sure). I think enough people believe this now that it won't be quite the huge event when it does occur, wherever/whenever it may be. As for really changing things...I don't know...the big wheel turns verrrry slow ;)
