How many members has OOH had in total?

Including unregistered members, TFS hits 39. Including MWC05 players, we're 42. You guys? Your members list seems only to get bigger, not a lot smaller.

The front page of OoH lists all the current active members, someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think we've only had 4 members fall off the "active" rolls, and "active" for us is something like "I haven't played in over a year and don't know when or if I am going to play again". So take the front page roster and add 4 and that's our overall total historic membership roll.

That's pretty small. How old are you guys now?

We've had 'unregistered' members as well. Including them, it hits 40. That's people using a brother's account, or who are in two clans (Paris in Flames leaves DG if TFS has an OM, and Lothar 'is' in TFS...)

Quality over quantity, I always say.
Maybe it's because I use a Mac ? Who knows ..

Sure we are small, but you should see how we _move_.

Oh wait, never mind - that's probably not what you meant...

OoH has never been into the numbers, we're into the fun of the game. Personally I would rather play a game with 2-3 friends than a 12 person game where odds are 2-3 are going to annoy me, and one is likely to be a total wanker or rank h00r. The game between friends is going to be much more fun. No contest. Then again, I might be antisocial.

I'm assuming you are asking how old the order is, not the members. I won't give any personal info on members, but will say our oldest is Nokilli, who just celebrated his 90th birthday. NKI loves to tell us "whippersnappers" how Myth was played back in the Great Depression with jump rope, marbles and jacks.

Ok, brief H'Pak history:

Hard to say in some ways - how old we are - because we all have formed a group from diverse sources and created something very different from the origin. The official "Order of H'Pak" started in August of 2000 - but that was just 4 of us (Baak, Kaor, NKI, TS). That was it for awhile, some classic Baak/Kaor vs. NKI/TS battles, but it has since grown four fold, with most of us still playing regularly every Saturday night. Thinking about is, I love the way it's all come together. It's a great, great group of members who "get it" in terms of having fun going all out trying to keel each other. And it only seems to get better as time goes on.

One group of OoH expansion was from old friends and next generations (HS, CK, Daro) from the "real" world. A larger part of our additions since Aug 2000 were players from other orders - some gone, some still going. First was VR's Clan Ramone (VR, LD, Z, SS), Idiots (Milt), Imperium or Vegtables (Frum, JP). Others may not have been part of an order, but fit right in to our style of play and enjoyment when they joined us by chance (Q, HU, MT, HK). One of the better member stories is Queso breaking the PW and fooling all of us for a good part of the night, eventually bringing his buddy HU to keel with us :D There are also several regular or semi-regular guests who play with us (Baak has termed "special guests"), who I believe all are members of other orders(?) so we often get some large myth nights.

So, somehow we all come together for the Sat night myth fest and we are still going strong. That's the main extent of myth for most of - Sat night - so it's a pretty tight group in the sense of the long term and regularity. Yep...in my humble opinion we have loads and loads of quality. Testiment to the game AND more importantly who you play with. We had a great time last year in MWC04 (our first time in a tourney) finally all us us being on the same side of a fight, and can't wait to go to battle again!

"quality not quantity"? I couldn't agree more. Note we only have 16 out of 40 members still with us, and only 2 from the oppening 4 months I think (myself and Doug). Still, we keep most people for @ least 3 - 5 months, and we've settled down now. We have 3 people who may stay or leave, but the rest...its settling down.

Our history is seriously wacky. I'm in the process of trying to get all the join/leave dates for members as precisely as I can. I'm not gonna get many of them. Probably about 25.

From what I read, we're a bit more varied in age and nationality than OOH, and a bit more serious about our game - just a little, mind.

I'll post a copy of our history up here sometime. It's actually quite interesting. Conflicts, brief clan division (literally, 4 members left us to make another clan!), the CoTFS....episode.

I'm probably among the youngest founders to currently havea reasonably succesful order. Thing is, we only win OMs if Skyline, Doug or Magne are playing :|

More diverse nationality-wise would be easy to beat (if we were having a contest) since OoH is rather homogeneous that way, but more varied in age? That would be quite a range you have.

And as for more "serious" about your game? No doubt you are. I can't speak for anyone else, but the only thing I am serious about is having fun.

Sorry, but the way you came off was that you were halfway [note: not fully] "bragging". You sounded like you were comparing numbers or something. Personally, I think 40+ members for an order that is..how old ? Less than two years ? For an order of that age, it's way too many. Maybe you need a better recruitment process.

I'm not trying to be a jackass. It's just easier to speak my thoughts rather than BSing.

Does the easier thing always get you as far?
