Ancient GOTW snapshot wins contest! Whooo-hoo! :D

Talk about Myth, other games and anything else (within the rules)

There's ways it coulda been done within reason - just like playmyth.net has a list of ranked games that count as 'reg' Myth and get max points since they have regulations that follow general practice in reg.

yeah that's all true, but then again you are talking as if this was some kind of big formal competition instead of someone just saying on a forum one day "Hey, let's have a myth screen shot competition" and making the rules up as he went along. Seriously, it's much easier to just say "no plugins" rather than have to make judgements on a myriad of plugins, and then to deal with the crybabies who will bitch and moan "how come you let THAT plugin but not the one _I_ wanted? OMG U SUK!".

The only maps anyone plays are the MWC ones, Magma and the ones on the Myth Addicts 'essential coop maps' list. It wouldn't take long.

Just opening it up to all possibilities would also be cool. Remember that World of Mythcraft thing Idiots made?

Everyone knows that ALL global statements are wrong, so when you say "the ONLY maps anyone plays..." you are obviously oversimplifing. For ex, you didn't mention WWII maps at all. btw, I am not trying to start a debate about what maps people play or don't play, I am just pointing out that if you opened a contest to any and all maps and plugins I am sure there would be issues that arose. If _I_ were setting up a myff screen shot competition I would probably see what entries came in and if there were really good ones in a category from both regular myth maps and from 3rd party maps/plugins I would probably split the category into "Funniest screen shot from a Bungie standard map using no plugins" and "Funniest screen shot using non-Bungie maps/plugins".

No. what was it? I only found one reference to "World of Mythcraft" online and that was a forum discussing rumors about what the next Halo game was going to - which has since been announced as a RTS small squad tactical game set in the halo universe. What did the Idiots do/say about "World of Mythcraft"?

The Idiots made this

Image

Very nice image IMO, it even had some people wondering if it was real since it waas put on a real web-page (mythrealms.com - no longer exists).

I know a global statement is wrong, but on thet Magma forum Magma maps would be a given to be used, MWC ones are the ones that hundreds of people have proved conform to 'reg standards' and the MA ones are just classic heavily played maps within the reg community. The latter I could understand leaving out though.

Your idea for splitting it into two is really good though. I might suggest it to lugas if he's thinking of repeating it.

Actually I remember that image, just didn't know it was a WoW/Myth mashup/composite.

I remember that image too. Very evocative. Couldn't quite tell for sure if that was a tree to his right or an Iron Trow about to transform him into a manhole cover.

Every time I see that image I think: "Dang - I want to play that *now*!!"

huh? That's not even close to a 'screenshot' that's a photoshop composite image. Now if you want a myth-related-art contest that's one thing, but there's no way that image would belong in anything REMOTELY resembling a screenshot contest.

I am thinking now that maybe it wasn't details about the screenshot contest you didn't like, it was the entire premise of the contest itself - e.g. since it wasn't the kind of contest YOU wanted you thought it kind of sucked.

I have seen some awesome screenshots, I'm just thinking of branching beyond a literal screenshot. That picture of MythRealms would be valid in a very lax tournament and this kinda fun should have loose rules.
