I have to admit I am a bit confused by the two stories. (not unusual on any given news story)

story 1: Elections officials say stamp is on envelope in a box of invalidated absentee ballots that is BY LAW sealed for 22 months.

story 2: elections officials open box take out envelope and show stamp to reporters then put it back into box.

WTH?

If both these stories are true, it's no wonder some people had the heebee-jeebies about the florida elections a couple of presidential elections ago...

"However, the envelope is now in a box that by law cannot be opened. So it could be nearly two years before anyone is able to examine the stamp."

but he claims the stamp was NOT an inverted Jenny at all.

And this story from the miami herald that claims the very stamp from the ballot is on display in a miami warehouse?

"For the first time since its discovery, the well-publicized Inverted Jenny stamp found on the envelope for an absentee ballot was on display on Monday in a Fort Lauderdale warehouse."

Seriously, I SO don't trust the news. If they can't get the details right on a simple little story like this what are the odds they are getting the details right on the complicated stories?

lol - it's funny: I was just talking about this with Mrs. Baak and we were coming to the same conclusion: how could it be sealed for 22 months and have been viewed?

OK I did a bit more thinking about the different stories and here is what I am able to deduce about the stamp.

A) The stamp the election worker saw on an absentee ballot is either a…

1. …genuine rare ‘flying jenny’ stamp.

2. …forgery of the rare ‘flying jenny’ stamp

3. …completely different stamp, not related to the ‘flying jenny’ at all


B) The stamp the election worker saw on an absentee ballot was either …

1. …mailed by accident.

2. …mailed on purpose.


C) The person who mailed the absentee ballot with the notorious stamp is

1) …unlikely to ever be identified

2) …an old stamp collector who has already been on the news talking about the story


D) The stamp the election worker saw on an absentee ballot is …

1. …still in the legally sealed box where it’s been since the ballot was received

2. …back in the legally sealed box it was originally placed in (when it was received) after being taken out briefly to show reporters.

3. …currently on display in a Miami warehouse.

So to find out the REAL story, just take one from item A, one from item B...
